High School Mathematics Competition 2019

About the competition

The High School Mathematics Competition (HSMC) is a mathematics competition for Class X students in Manipur. It is conducted by Lousing Chaphu under the aegis of Private Schools’ Development Council (PSDC), Thoubal. It is sponsored by Laisukol (Little Millennium), Thoubal. The competition is open to all students currently studying in Class X in any of the schools in Manipur. The competition aims to test and enhance various skills of the students, including, but not limited to, logical thinking, problem solving and time management skills.

Prizes

  • First prize: ₹ 5000 with citation.
  • Second prize: ₹ 3000 with citation.
  • Third prize: ₹ 2000 with citation.
  • Consolation prizes: Each of the next 15 toppers will also be awarded a cash prize with citation.

General Information

  • Registration starts on 1 August 2019.
  • Last date of Registration: 31 August 2019. The last date of registration has been extended till 7 September 2019.
  • Registration fee: ₹ 50.
  • Registration form can be downloaded from here. Registration form will also be available from the office of Little Millennium, Thoubal Achouba Leitanthem Leirak, Thoubal during office hours.
  • Place of form submission: The duly filled registration form can be submitted to the office of Little Millennium, Thoubal during office hours.
  • Date of Issue of Admit card: 25 September 2019.
  • Date of Examination: 2 October 2019 (Wednesday). The examination has been rescheduled for Thursday, 3 October 2019.
  • Time of Examination: 10 am to 12 noon (2 hours).
  • Examination Centres: (1) Fancier Higher Secondary School, Thoubal Wangmataba, Thoubal 795138, (2) New Era Higher Secondary School, Thoubal Wangmataba, Thoubal 795138.
  • Syllabus: The questions will be based on the syllabus of Mathematics for Class X prescribed by the Board of Secondary Education, Manipur.

  • Answer key: Answer keys for the question papers will be available online after the end of the examination. The answer keys are now available here.
  • Claims and objections: Claims and objections, if any, may be raised against the answer keys on or before 4 October 2019.
  • Announcement of the result: Result will be declared on 6 October 2019 . The result has been declared. See details here.
  • Prize distribution: Prizes will be distributed on 8 October 2019. The prize distribution ceremony was held at Fancier Higher Secondary School, Thoubal on 8 October 2019.

Design of Question Paper

  • The questions will be of objective (multiple choice) type only.
  • The question paper will consist of 50 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) carrying a maximum of 100 marks. There will be 20 MCQs carrying 1 mark each, 20 MCQs carrying 2 marks each and 10 MCQs carrying 4 marks each.
  • There shall be negative marking for each wrong answer, and a penalty of 25% of the mark allotted to the corresponding question will be deducted. If nothing is marked for a question, no penalty shall be given.
  • For each question, there will be four alternatives out of which only one is correct. You have to find the correct answer and darken the letter corresponding to the answer only in the answer sheet.
